The Ribeira Sacra is a land marked by the two great rivers that shape it, Miño and Sil, as well as by the faith and spirituality that still surrounds the many churches scattered throughout its beautiful landscape. A landscape that homes one of the largest concentrations of monasteries in Europe. Some are as impressive as Santo Estevo de Ribas do Sil, on a steep bank of the river, appearing to be suspended over the vineyards. Or as San Pedro de Rocas, one of the earliest local hermitage settlements, -nearly primitive-, which has been carved literally into rock. Also of great anthropological value are the anthropomorphic tombs that you will find spread over the road.
This site, inhabited since ancient times, also has a superb nature which will be a waking call for all your senses. This is a place touched by Heaven, with stunning scenery such as the canyons of the River Sil, which are navigable by several catamaran routes. From the Balcón de Madrid, you will catch a glimpse of the abyss from the highest point of the Cañón do Sil.
